On Sunday, June 4, volunteers will serve a free barbecue-style dinner at PeopleCare Center for Nonprofits (120 Finderne Ave., Bridgewater) from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Families and individuals in need are invited to enjoy a sit-down meal at no cost. A vegetarian option will be available. Free essential items (socks, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.) will also be given out.
Volunteers are still needed; anyone interested can sign up at bit.ly/2023-SAFE-Spring-signup.
The event is sponsored by Somerville Alliance for Food Education (SAFE) in partnership with The Food Bank Network of Somerset County and PeopleCare Center for Nonprofits, with support from Elite Dance Center and Magma Gymnastics. JK Design and SAFE are organizing the Spring Essentials Drive for dinner guests.
“We encourage everyone in the community to donate, volunteer, or enjoy a meal at this spring event, now in its third year,” said Betty Krupka, SAFE board member and one of the lead organizers. “We’re grateful to the many generous people who make this free dinner possible in addition to our long-standing Thanksgiving gathering.”
