Meryl Blinder has strong ties to New Jersey. She lived in Princeton on and off starting in the 1970’s, and worked as a colorist for Michael Graves Architects from 1989 – 1997. More recently you might have seen her work locally at Gallery Jupiter in Little Silver which is owned by her sister Judi Trammell. She currently resides in Boston.

Ms. Blinder became serious about her studio practice in 2000. Her paintings are structured works in which she explores subtle color relationships. She is attracted to wave and grid patterns in particular and in repeating them is allowed the freedom to concentrate on color. Grids are drawn in pencil and left intact thus allowing the viewer to observe the process of the making. Squares and circles are often seen in repeating patterns.

Ms. Binder is a 2022 Artist in Residence at the Oyster Point Hotel in Red Bank, NJ. Her year with the Hotel will kick off with a solo exhibition opening with a cocktail reception on Friday, February 4th from 6 – 8.

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Blinder to the Oyster Point Hotel Art Program. The Oyster Point Hotel is located at 146 Bodman Place, Red Bank, NJ. This is a free event and the public is cordially invited.

In 2001 and 2002, she was invited to create installations for World Aids Day at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. She is currently an adjunct professor at the Wentworth Institute of Technology where she teaches Color, Design and Drawing. Ms. Blinder has shown her work extensively including exhibits at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, the Danforth Museum, and the Brooklyn Waterfront Coalition.
