William M. Asterino, 85

William M. Asterino, 85 William M. Asterino, 85, of Titusville, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9th. Born in Trenton, Mr. Asterino lived in Hamilton Township with his wife and children until 1969 when they moved to Titusville. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict as Commander and was then on active reserve duty for 23 years. Earning his Bachelor of Science degree from Rider College, he went on to receive his Master’s Degree from Trenton State College. He enjoyed a long career in education having taught math at Fisher Middle School, and then became Vice Principal at Ewing High School. He continued his career in education moving into administration with the Franklin, Sterling, Ewing and Hamilton Township School systems. He retired from Hamilton Township School District as Comptroller in 1993. He was an active member of the Board of Directors of the Mercer County Teachers Federal Credit Union as well as an active member of the Elks Club. Mr. Asterino enjoyed golfing, trips to the beach, exercising and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Mary (Galante) Asterino and his brother, Raymond Asterino; he is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret (Gaston) Asterino; his four children and their spouses, William and Joanne Asterino, Jr., Linda and Ralph Meade, Susan and Matthew Lagowski, Pamela and Christopher Wagner; and his nine grandchildren, Dylan, Jennifer, Curtis, Haley, William III, Megan, Justin, Matthew Jr., and Danielle. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Gloria Asterino along with several nieces and a nephew, cousins and aunts. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at St. James RC Church, 115 E. Delaware Avenue, Pennington, NJ 08534. Entombment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ.
