Carole Boyd Hess, 71, Carole Boyd Hess, 71, of Titusville, New Jersey, died of cancer on Saturday April 16th. Born Carole Rae Boyd to Murray Boyd, Sr. and Geraldine Harris Boyd in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, she had been a resident of Titusville since 1977. An alumna of California State College, Carole taught elementary school in Glen Burnie, Maryland and then worked for the Department of Welfare in Pennsylvania. She married Harry L. Hess and moved to New Jersey in1969. In New Jersey, she was a volunteer for the Princeton YMCA’s Little Leisure program, the Pennington Library, and the Titusville Fourth of July Committee. She was active on projects for the Bear Tavern Elementary School PTA, including teaching an art appreciation class for the school’s Saturday enrichment program. An avid photographer since her teens, she did the commercial photography for all of her husband’s publications. Carole is survived by her husband, Harry L. Hess of Titusville; her daughter, Kimberly Hess, and son-in-law, Mark Toigo, of Annandale, New Jersey; her brother, Murray Boyd, Jr., and sister-in-law, Joyce Boyd, of Frederick, Maryland; her mother-in-law, Mary Jane Hess, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania; an uncle and aunt, David and Sandy Hukill, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; and numerous cousins. The viewing and funeral will be private. In lieu of flowers, her family would like to acknowledge her interests in art, photography and wildlife by requesting that contributions be sent to the Washington Crossing Audubon Society at P.O.
