Sen. Jennifer Beck (R-Monmouth) sent a letter dated May 23 to Thomas Scullin, chief operating officer of Academy Bus Lines Inc., after her office was contacted numerous times in recent weeks about service issues, specifically regarding the Route 9/Wall Street line, according to a press release sent by her office.

Reportedly, some of the most common problems were chronic delays of over 45 minutes, buses littered with refuse and lack of responses to commuter complaints filed with the company.

“A number of years ago, my legislative office received complaints regarding the conditions of buses, service delays and interruptions along Academy’s routes,” said Beck in the release.

“Upon engaging the executive team of Academy, these problems had dissipated. Sadly, many of the same complaints I heard several years ago are still not being adequately addressed.

“I have sent a letter to Academy’s Chief Operating Officer Mr. Thomas Scullin outlining the main issues I have heard from my Freehold commuters regarding the deplorable conditions and chronic delays on Academy’s Route 9 routes. I expect a quick resolution to these complaints so that all of my residents can have a safe and timely commute to work,” said Beck.
