Maxine Ruth Farmer, 81

Maxine Ruth Farmer, 81, died Thursday, September 1, 2016 at her home after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
Born in Newark to George and Mary Ziss, Maxine attended Boston University as an undergraduate and earned her Masters of Social Work from University of California at Berkeley.  Along with her adoring husband, Howard Stephen Farmer, Maxine was a resident of Princeton for 50 years.  After a tenure as a social worker with the Lawerenceville school system, Maxine ran a busy family therapy practice in Princeton until her retirement in 2009.  She enjoyed theater, attending museums, international travel, socializing with friends, and was an avid reader.  
In addition to her husband, Maxine is lovingly survived by her sons, George, Jacob, and Sam, daughters-in- law, Nancy, Jenna, and Lisa, grandchildren, Ruby, Joshua, William, Mattia, and Talya, and her brother, Marvin Ziss, and sister, Arlene Nudelman.  
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 5 at The Jewish Center of Princeton, with burial at Princeton Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Jewish Center of Princeton, or Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Greater Mercer County. Funeral arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing Township.
