McGuire health center moves to new location

FREEHOLD – The Paul M. McGuire Family Health Center has moved to a new facility at 41 Center St., Suite 106, Freehold Borough. The new facility opened on Nov. 10.

The health center is operated by the I Beeseech Thee Community Development Corporation, Freehold Borough.

The health center opened on Jan. 21, 2005 in a trailer on Avenue A.

In November 2007, the health center moved to space at 25 Broad St. That location had double the number of examination rooms, as well as additional space for a waiting room, a receptionist’s office and administrative offices, according to a press release.

The health center provides free medical care to the uninsured and working poor at no cost to the individual, providing services in the areas of glaucoma, gynecology, dermatology, ophthalmology, pediatric, immunizations, physical examinations, primary care and diabetes classes, according to the press release.

Since opening, the health center has provided health care to approximately 5,000 patients, consisting of approximately 12,000 visits. Eighty-five percent of the staff is volunteers (including the doctors and nurses).

The health center is funded by private contributions and grants. Anyone wishing to make a donation may make a check or money order payable to the Paul M. McGuire Family Health Center and mail it to the I Beeseech Thee Community Development Corporation, 133 Throckmorton St., Freehold, NJ 07728.

The health center’s hours of operation are Tuesday and Thursday from 6-9 p.m., by appointment. For an appointment, call 732-409-0133.
