LITTLE SILVER — The Little Silver Recreation Coaches Appreciation Dinner is a night that brings the town’s volunteer coaches together where they can eat, reminisce about coaching experiences and be recognized for their efforts.

This year, the annual dinner was held Feb. 24 at the Little Silver Women’s Club.

The Little Silver Recreation Committee, led by Director Doug Glassmacher, organizes this special evening. Coaches, spouses and community members are able to congregate and recognize the men and women who have donated their time to the children of Little Silver.

These men and women leave their equipment and clipboards home to partake in this fun night to celebrate the year of success.

Glassmacher first organized this event seven years ago in order to thank all of the volunteers who contributed to Little Silver’s recreation program. He wanted to do something to show appreciation for those who donate countless hours of volunteering.

“A recreation program is only as good as its volunteers — and by golly, we’ve got some great ones here in Little Silver,” he said.

Little Silver Recreation Baseball Coordinator Rich Brandt is one of many who notice the effort Glassmacher puts into this evening.

“Doug has been an incredible role model for many of us in the community for how he leads with such dedication,” he said. “Little Silver is lucky to have Glassmacher.”

The annual dinner is supported by local businesses who donate to the event, and the Red Bank Regional High School Culinary Program always cooks a delicious meal for everyone who attends.
