There are better options for people with housing issues than living in the woods (“Howell Reaches Out to People Living in Woods.” Tri-Town News, April 27).
Social service agencies receive millions of our tax dollars and can help people with welfare, food stamps, housing, Section 8 low income housing, substance abuse treatment, mental health services, etc.

There are also campgrounds where people can live year round for a small fee. Another option is for two or three people to share an apartment and pay rent together.
I do not understand why our township officials allowed this Howell property to be used as a homeless tent camp. They certainly made a big mistake and I hope they rectify it.
