Jackson police respond to drug incidents

JACKSON – Police officers responded to three drug overdoses in the space of two days in Jackson, including one incident during which a young adult died.

Police said that at 6:19 a.m. Oct. 27, police officers, fire and first aid personnel responded to a home to investigate a report of a possible overdose involving a 23-year-old female. An investigation determined the overdose was intentional. Police said the young woman died during the incident.

At 8:39 a.m. Oct. 28, police officers and first aid personnel responded to a home to investigate a report of an unresponsive 39-year-old male who might have overdosed. Police said the antidote Narcan was administered and the male became responsive. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.

At 8:37 p.m. Oct. 28, police officers and first aid personnel responded to Mimi Court, off Brewers Bridge Road, to investigate a report of a possible overdose involving a 19-year-old male in a vehicle. Police said the antidote Narcan was administered and the male became responsive. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.

In other incidents reported by police:

• At 8:42 a.m. Oct. 27, a resident of Coleman Way reported that unknown individuals entered a shed on his property and stole construction equipment that was valued at more than $1,000.

• At 2:01 p.m. Oct. 27, a resident of Cedar Swamp Road reported that unknown individuals had entered an unlocked vehicle that was parked in his driveway and stole debit cards and more than $150 cash from a wallet which had been left in the vehicle.

• At 11:53 a.m. Oct. 29, a resident of Susan Drive reported that unknown individuals had entered her unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway of her home and stole $25 cash which had been left in the visor.

• On Oct. 30 at 11:41 a.m., officers responded to the area of Pamela Court and Jackson Mills Road to investigate a report of a suspicious person.

Police said a resident reported that a man wearing dark sunglasses and a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with the hood up rang the doorbell and asked for a person who does not live there.

The resident watched the man retrieve a backpack he had left near the woods and then leave the area on foot. Officers checked the immediate area and did not locate the man.

The officers checked the caller’s home and several other residences in order to determine if entry had been made to any unoccupied residences.

Subsequent to that response, a 30-year-old male who matched the description of the man on Pamela Court was located in the area of Jackson Mills and Frank Applegate roads. Police said the man was identified and released at the scene with no further action.
