The JFK Foundation announced the recent appointment of Denise Marra DePekary, of Warren Township, to its Board of Directors.

Denise DePekary is a partner in the New Jersey office of Kennedys CMK, an international law firm that recently merged with her former firm, Carroll, McNulty and Kull LLC.

DePekary specializes in commercial and insurance litigation as well as human resources and employment issues. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from New York’s Yeshiva University, Benjamin Cardozo School of Law, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and English from Lafayette College.

For seven years, DePekary was a cheerleading coach and a fundraiser with the Watchung Hills Pop Warner Organization. As coach, she assisted her daughter’s team to achieve regional or national recognition for three straight years and held events from golf outings to auctions to help support the team in its endeavors. She is also a certified yoga instructor.

It is DePekary’s dedication to the community and her fundraising experience that made her a sought-after choice for the JFK Foundation Board. Board Chair Joseph W. Yewaisis, a long-time friend, had been encouraging DePekary to consider joining the board for several years.

“Not only is Denise an accomplished attorney, but she also has years of experience in community fundraising efforts and outreach,” he said. “Her energy and enthusiasm will be a great asset for our organization.”

As the hospital celebrates its golden anniversary year, DePekary said it is amazing to see a community hospital built on a grass roots fundraising campaign expand to become what it is today.

“I look forward to working with the Foundation staff and my colleagues on the Foundation Board to build an even brighter future for JFK Medical Center,” she said, adding that being a member of the JFK Foundation Board will bring her new opportunities and rewards.
