ENGLISHTOWN – Incumbent Republicans Eric Mann and Cecilia Robilotti have won new three-year terms on the Borough Council in Englishtown.
On Nov. 7, Mann and Robilotti were re-elected, with Mann receiving 254 votes and Robilotti receiving 245 votes.
The two Republicans turned back a challenge from Democrat Steven Bloom, who received 177 votes, according to results posted online by the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office. The results are unofficial until they are certified by the county.
With the victory by Mann and Robilotti, Republicans will continue to hold all six council seats and the mayor’s office in Englishtown.
Mann said he sought re-election “to continue to serve our residents in maintaining Englishtown as an independent and well-run fiscally healthy community. I strongly believe good government must be both representative and responsive, and should be managed in such a way as the important local services are provided timely, professionally and cost-efficiently.”
Issues that Mann said he intends to continue to address during his next three years on the council are the maintenance of services at the lowest reasonable cost to maintain the lowest practical tax rate, the improvement of the downtown area to attract and retain businesses, working with Monmouth County to improve the traffic flow through Englishtown, and being responsive to community concerns.
Robilotti has been a resident of Englishtown for 19 years and a member of the council for 12 years.
“I would like to continue my hard work for the town by keeping costs under control and maintaining services without raising taxes too much,” Robilotti said. “My door is always open and accessible to residents.”
Issues that Robilotti said she intends to continue to address during her next three years on the council are services and taxes.
