HOLMDEL – Township Committee members in Holmdel have terminated the company that was cleaning several municipal facilities after officials determined the firm’s employees were not performing routine maintenance tasks in an adequate manner.

On Sept. 11, members of the governing body unanimously voted to terminate BBC Cleaning Corporation. The company was reportedly not carrying out the maintenance duties that were outlined in its contract, according to municipal officials.

BBC Cleaning Corporation was responsible for cleaning the municipal building, the senior center, the Holmdel Library, Cross Farm Park and Bayonet Park, according to a letter from Victor Stevens, the director of infrastructure and operations in Holmdel, to Oh Kwon of BBC Cleaning Corporation.

The letter indicates “a written notice of unsatisfactory services” and of a contract termination.

Stevens wrote, “During the past six months, we have had several discussions with Jon Kim concerning your company’s work assignments and performance duties.

“In particular, you have been unable to complete work assignments and the work product has often been either incomplete or incorrect.

“Specifically, your company has breached the following obligations under the contract dated Dec. 12, 2017: Daily Supervision; Inspections/Complaints; Schedule of Tasks Performed.”

Stevens wrote that Kim has been unresponsive to the matter.

On the same night, the committee hired a new cleaning service, ACCSES of New Jersey, to replace the firm that was terminated.

Committeeman Michael Nikolis said ACCSES “came with excellent references and is doing a tremendous job.”
