Special art exhibit at Twin Lights Museum until Nov. 22

The “Guns Blazing! The War of 1812” exhibit at Twin Lights Lighthouse museum is open now until Nov. 22. The galleries are open each day during Twin Lights opening hours.

The museum is located at 2 Light House Road in Highlands. The museum is open between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The museum is closed on Mondays.

Acclaimed maritime artist, Maarten Platje, devoted years of research to the creation of fifteen historically accurate and exquisitely visualized paintings of some of these battles. These painting are on display at Twin Lights Lighthouse museum, according to a press release.

This exhibit is a collaboration between Navesink Maritime Heritage Association, Cavalier Galleries of New York, and Twin Lights Historical Society, according to the press release.

A specially produced companion guide is for sale and includes pictures of the paintings, the stories of the battles depicted in them, and essays on other aspects of The War of 1812, according to the press release.
