Democratic candidates in the lead for seats on Metuchen Borough Council

There were elections for two, three-year terms on the municipal governing body for Metuchen on Nov. 2.

The race is contested.

The candidates are Democrats Jason Delia, an incumbent, and newcomer Joel W. Branch, and Republican newcomers Stephen Kitsko and Eric Lignell.

As of press time on Nov. 3, the Democratic candidates – Delia, with 2,820 votes, or 31.38%, and Branch, with 2,740 votes, or 30.49% – lead Republican candidates Kitsko, with 1,730 votes, or 19.25%, and Lignell, with 1,687 votes, or 18.77%.

There are 11 write-in votes.

The results reflect what has been posted online by the Middlesex County Clerk’s Office at this time. The results are not final and it is not known when the results will be final.

The results of the election will remain unofficial until they are certified.
