900 homes and businesses remain without power in South Brunswick

SOUTH BRUNSWICK – Progress has been made in many parts of the town with clearing roads and restoring power.

The power companies estimate 900 homes and businesses remain without power, according to information provided by the township around 10:30 a.m. Aug. 6.

The number of road closures has been reduced but several intersections remain without power. Motorists are reminder not to drive around barricades or cones on closed roads.

In the last 48 hours, there were 402 calls to the police department, 26 fire calls and 32 EMS calls, according to the statement.

The following roads are still closed:

  • Route 27 – between Kingston Terrace and Promenade Boulevard
  • Davidson Mill Road – between Old Davidson Mill and White Pyne Road
  • Friendship Road – between New Road and Broadway Road

Traffic lights that are still out include:

  • Route 535 / Thatcher Road
  • Route 535 / Davidson Mill Road
  • Route 535 / Middlesex Center Boulevard
  • Route 130 / Broadway Road
  • Route 32 / Commerce Boulevard

 

 

The South Brunswick Senior Center is open between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for residents who need to charge items.
