A Clinton man was charged with the stabbing of a Manville man Tuesday night, March 22, at a residence on South 3rd Avenue.
At about 7:45 p.m., Manville police officers found the victim, whom authorities identifed as a 52-year-old Manville resident, on the porch of an acquaintance’s house. He was bleeding from a puncture wound to his abdomen and he identified his attacker as Zachary T. Falso, police said.
The victim told police that he was involved in a verbal argument with Mr. Falso over music. The disagreement escalated into a physical fight and punches were thrown.
Mr. Falso produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the abdomen. Emergency medical technicians took the victim to an area trauma center, where he underwent emergency surgery and is expected to survive, police said.
After stabbing the victim Mr. Falso fled in his vehicle, police said. Manville Police Officer Richard Canuso called Mr. Falso on his cellular phone and the defendant agreed to come to Manville police headquarters, where he was taken into custody without incident.
At the time of his arrest Mr. Falso was found to be in possession of two knives, police said.
Detectives from the Manville Borough Police Department and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to conduct the investigation.
Mr. Falso, 26, of West Main Street, Clinton, was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, both third-degree crimes. He was lodged in the Somerset County Jail.
