Health fair will include blood tests, physical examinations

PRINCETON – The Indian Health Camp of New Jersey (IHCNJ) will hold its annual Health Fair at the end of the month.

The health and disease prevention fair will run from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the Durga Mandir Temple, 4240 Route 27, Princeton, and will be open to all pre-registered participants above the age of 40 who do not have medical insurance, according to a statement prepared by the IHCNJ.

Approximately 10-15 physicians and other allied health care professionals from various specialties of internal medicine will provide their services to screen and educate patients on a number of illnesses and other debilitating diseases that targets the South Asian population, the statement said.

Participating physicians will also conduct blood tests, EKGs, physical examinations and other services during the health fair.

Health fair participants who are planning on having their blood tested must arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. on the day of the screening and are recommended to not eat anything beforehand except water. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all participants and volunteers.

Committee members and volunteers of the IHCNJ will be on hand to provide support for the health fair activities, the statement said.

Other participants include members of the State of New Jersey Commission for the Blind, the Princeton Medical Center and Rupen Patel of the Accurate Diagnostics Lab.

IHCNJ will hold their last health fair and screening for the year on Nov. 13 at the Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Secaucus.
