An individual who lives in the single-family home where the fire broke out was taken to Bayshore Medical Center, Holmdel, for treatment of what Aberdeen Township Police Capt. Alan Geyer described as minor injuries.

The individual, whose identity has not been released, was being questioned by detectives who are trying to determine what caused the fire to erupt at the home, Geyer said.

“At least three houses have been taken down by the fire … At the very beginning (of our response) we heard something about heaters and propane tanks. None of that has been confirmed. We have two detectives at (Bayshore Medical Center) interviewing (the injured person) now,” Geyer said at about 1:30 p.m.

Geyer said a neighbor called to notify authorities about the fire.

At 1:30 p.m., some power lines in the area were down. Flames were no longer visible in the three homes that burned. Firefighting vehicles and emergency response units were parked along Highfield Avenue and on adjacent streets.
