The former president of the Hightstown Rams Youth Football and Cheerleading group has been charged with theft for allegedly withdrawing money from the association’s checking account, according to the West Windsor Police Department.
The former president, who lives in Hamilton Township, was charged April 4 in connection with unauthorized withdrawals from a bank on Alexander Road in West Windsor Township, police said.
The current president of the Hightstown Rams Youth Football and Cheerleading group told police that when she checked the account balances, she noticed several withdrawals for $2,000 each. The treasurer was unaware of the transactions and said they were not authorized.
Two of the $2,000 withdrawals occurred at the Wells Fargo Bank ATM on Alexander Road on Dec. 13, police said. They were made with debit cards assigned to the football and cheerleading units, respectively.
Several other unauthorized withdrawals, each one for $2,000, took place in surrounding towns on different dates in December 2023, police said. The combined withdrawals totaled approximately $16,000.
The West Windsor police detective investigated the unauthorized withdrawals and identified the suspect as the former president of the Hightstown Rams Youth Football and Cheerleading organization, police said.
The detective signed a criminal complaint for theft against the suspect for his actions in West Windsor Township, police said.
