Cynthia Adrienne Carter, 96, of Ewing, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Granville Place in Burlington.
Born in Ewing, she resided there for the majority of her life and enjoyed being involved in her community. Ms. Carter worked for the New Jersey Department of Transportation as a secretary before her retirement in 1991. Cynthia’s faith played a very important role in her life and she was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church.
In her free time, Cynthia enjoyed a good crossword puzzle and was an avid reader. She loved to be with her family and friends, playing cards and, in her younger days, dancing the Jitter Bug. She enjoyed social gatherings and was a good friend to many. Her husband was a member of the Pennington Road Fire Co. and she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary making many life-long friends there. Cynthia was well traveled but the time she spent in Scotland remained close to her heart.
Predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Hewitson and her dear husband, Robert C. Carter; her seven siblings, Gertrude, Douglas, Charlotte, Alexander, June, Thomas, Patricia; and her daughter-in-law, Deborah Carter; Cynthia’s memory will be carried on by her by her sons, William A. Carter and his wife, Judy, and Robert T. Carter; her grandchildren, Sean Carter and his wife, Stacy, Brent Carter, Heather (Carter) Anderson and her husband, Clay, Grant Carter and his wife, Alex, and Caley Carter; and her five great-grandchildren, Bridget, Quinn, and Brody Carter and Carter and Scarlett Anderson.
A Memorial Gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Good Counsel RC Church, 137 W Upper Ferry Rd., Ewing Township, NJ 08628.
Interment will follow at Ewing Church Cemetery in Ewing.
