Six Hillsborough residents were awarded postsecondary school scholarships this month by the Rotary Club of Hillsborough.
A decades-long tradition for the club, the scholarship winners were selected from applicants who not only achieved academic excellence, but performed valuable community service in the spirit of Rotary.
“Each year, we are honored to recognize and support some of Hillsborough’s brightest and most community-minded young residents,” Peter Passalacqua, the Rotary Club of Hillsborough member who leads the scholarship program, said in a prepared statement. “These students exemplify the ideals of Rotary and are excellent role models for all of us.”
Several of The Rotary Club of Hillsborough Scholarships are named after community organizations and noted Hillsborough residents whose years of community service have contributed significantly to the quality of life in the township.
The 2020 Scholarship winners are Manasi Soman, winner of the of the Interact Scholarship; Amanda Cohen, winner of the Dix Skillman Scholarship; Kaitlyn Dundorf, winner of the Assemblyman, N.J., Peter J. Biondi Scholarship; Amanda Richardson, winner of the Michael Merdinger Scholarship; Justin Hosszu, scholarship winner planning to attend trade school; Joshua Anthony Bravo, winner of the Hillsborough Rotary Club/ Organization for Autism Research (OAR) Scholarship; and Mark Borek, scholarship winner and Hillsborough resident.
