Barbara Pulis Michael,96, of Jupiter, Florida and formerly of Princeton, New Jersey and Pittsburg, PA passed away peacefully on September 9, 2024 at Trustbridge Hospice in Jupiter Florida. She was surrounded by much of her family. Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband, F. Robert Michael in 1991.
Barbara was born in Westfield, New Jersey on May 27, 1928 to Lillian and Charles D. Pulis. After studying at Penn Hall, now known as Wilson College, in Chambersberg, Pennsylvania she received her associate’s degree in 1946. Later she went on to be one of Johnson and Johnson’s first female Pharmaceautical representatives and later worked for Medical Marketing Associates in a training and sales capacity. Barbara and Bob, raised their six children Peter, Geoffrey, Deborah (Deborah Graham), Andrea (Andrea Canfield), Susan (Susan Steddar) and Meredith (Meredith Quinn) in Princeton, New Jersey and later Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Together they transitioned their love and passion for antiques into a thriving practice focusing on providing fine arts estate appraisals as well as offering lectures and private classes throughout the country. Some of their most loved venues included Olgebay Mansion Museum, Wheeling, West Virginia where both Barbara and her husband Bob were often asked to advise and lecture for the museum, as well as The Present Day Club, in Princeton, New Jersey where Barbara was a member. Barbara was also a specieal guest speaker at the Naples Antique Show in Naples, Florida. Barbara was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Princeton, New Jersey and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Along with her love of fine arts and antiques, Barbara was a proud member of the Townsend family of Oyster Bay, New York and a descendant of the Townsend Goddard furniture makers whose furniture is displayed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Barbara is survived by 6 children, 11 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren who she loved and spent so much of her life with, sharing her zest for life, compassion for others, and deep faith in God. She will be sorely missed by all. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, October 4th at 11:00AM for Barbara at Trinity Episcopal Church, 33 Mercer Street, Princeton, New Jersey 08540.
