Suzanne L. Szala, 99, of Robbinsville, passed away peacefully in her home under the care of Ennoble Hospice on Monday, October 14, 2024.
Suzanne was born in Paris, France. She came to the United States in 1946 to marry the Army soldier she met, and fell in love with, who was stationed there. In her free time, Suzanne loved to knit and cook. One of her signature dishes was her turkey barley soup, which was looked forward to every Thanksgiving. She retired in 1990 from Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield in New York City after more than 25 years as a bookkeeper. In 1993, after her husband passed away, she moved to Robbinsville, NJ, where her daughter lived.
Predeceased by her parents, Maurice and Emilie Lucie (Moreau) Cottet, and her husband, Joseph; she is survived by her daughter, Diana Szala of Robbinsville; her son, Richard Szala of Montague; her five grandchildren, Richard, Brendan, Margaret and Tara Szala, and Bridget Pforr, and her 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 starting at 1:00 p.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m. after a brief service at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ.
Cremation was private.
