SOUTH BRUNSWICK — The South Brunswick Police Department (SBPD) was selected as the top New Jersey award winner for its participation in the 33nd annual National Night Out event that highlights the partnership between police and the community.

The National Association of Town Watch recognized the outstanding community support and participation in picking South Brunswick’s celebration as the best in the state, according to a statement prepared by the SBPD.

The evening is a national event that emphasizes police-community relations by providing an opportunity for officers and residents to come together and celebrate the community. Held the first Tuesday of August, this year’s event took place on Aug. 2 at Rowland Park.

“This award is recognition of the outstanding work we have done to build strong community relations in South Brunswick. Our residents and businesses showed tremendous support for National Night Out with over 6,000 people attending. While the award is a reflection of one night, the strength of our partnerships is the result of work on a daily basis,” Police Chief Raymond Hayducka said.
