Criminals target vehicles in Manalapan

MANALAPAN – Motor vehicles were the targets of crime during a recent week in Manalapan.

Police said that on Oct. 26 at 8:30 a.m., a 41-year-old Manalapan resident reported that an unknown individual removed belongings from an unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway of a Fountayne Lane residence between 10:30 p.m. Oct. 25 and 7:30 a.m. Oct. 26. Fountayne Lane runs between Kinney and Gravel Hill roads.

At 5:49 p.m. Oct. 26, a 53-year-old Manalapan resident, a 21-year-old Manalapan resident and a 20-year-old East Brunswick resident reported that over the course of about two months, unknown individuals had stolen approximately $1,348 worth of belongings from unlocked motor vehicles that were parked in the driveway of a Precedent Place residence. Precedent Place is off Thompson Grove Road.

Police said that on Oct. 29 at 10:31 a.m., a 22-year-old resident of Seaside Park reported that her orange 2017 Ford Escape valued at $27,500 had been stolen from a residential driveway on Timber Lane. The woman said the theft occurred on Oct. 29 between 9:30-10:15 a.m. The vehicle was left unlocked and the key fob was inside the vehicle. Timber Lane runs between Pease Road and Manor Court.

In another incident reported by police:

• On Oct. 26 at 8:57 a.m., a 63-year-old Manalapan resident reported that an unknown individual gained access to a cell phone, email, home phone and credit card and made $14,000 worth of unauthorized charges on the credit card between Oct. 23 and Oct. 25.
