Pennsylvania man arrested on multiple charges in Hopewell

A 26-year-old man from Easton, Pa., has been charged with multiple offenses after he led police on a high-speed chase on Route 31 on Dec. 12, according to the Hopewell Township Police Department.

The man was charged with speeding, eluding police, driving without a license, driving with a suspended license, having an unregistered vehicle, reckless driving and failure to maintain in a lane after a police officer tried to stop him for speeding on Route 31 near Yard Road.

The officer, who was traveling in the opposite direction, turned his patrol car around to initiate a traffic stop, but he lost sight of the car.

The officer saw the car later and activated his lights to begin a motor vehicle stop, but the driver did not stop. He sped away from the officer at a high rate of speed, police said.

The officer pursued the vehicle, but eventually terminated the chase.

The driver was later identified and contacted. He was processed at police headquarters and released on a summons. The case will be sent to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
