Library slates April programs for children

The Middletown Township Public Library has scheduled programs for children in April at 55 New Monmouth Road. Pre-registration is required.

“Otto the Auto Robot” will present a talk for children about car safety at 2 p.m. April 1.

“Week of the Young Child” and “National Library Week” will be celebrated from April 10-16. Special guests, activities, story times and programs will be held during the week.

“Earth Day Celebration” will take place at 4 p.m. April 19. Celebrate Earth Day with the students of Middletown High School North’s Environmental Club. An Earth-themed story will be read followed by a related craft.

“Rubber Duckie Book Club/1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” is an early literacy program for children up to age 6. Families are invited to join this new program.

The library also has many drop-in programs. Enjoy spontaneous fun, get help, practice a skill or make new friends. Programs include “Toddler Time,” “Lapsit Story Time for Infants,” “Simply Story Time,” “Kids Playgroup,” American Sign Language instruction, math tutoring, LEGO fun, scrabble and chess for children, teen tutoring and “Reading Buddies.” In the Discovery Zone, there is always an art project to create or a puzzle to be solved.

Monthly programs include “First Friday Freestyle Art,” “Math Starts,” “Read to a Dog,” “Magical Musical Me,” “Dress for Mess,” “Pete the Cat Story Time” and “Rubber Duckie Book Club Story Time.” For program details, visit www.mtpl.org.
