Easter will come a day early at the Pier Village in Long Branch.

The annual event to celebrate the holiday, Easter at the Pier, will be held on April 15. The event, which is one day before Easter Sunday, will feature a free egg hunt from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.

“Easter at the Pier is an annual community event, a joint effort between Pier Village, the City of Long Branch and the Greater Long Branch Chamber of Commerce. It takes place on Festival Plaza and the Boardwalk/Beach at Pier Village,”  said Jennifer Burner Barden, a spokeswoman for Pier Village.

The Easter Bunny and some costumed characters will be on site to meet and greet the visitors, who are encouraged to bring a camera.

Barden said there will also be amusements, including bounce houses, set up on Festival Plaza, with tickets available for purchase on site.

According to Barden, a DJ and party motivator will entertain visitors on the boardwalk. There will be a face painter, too.

Barden said there will be students from Miss Mare’s All About Dance in Eatontown who will be performing on the boardwalk at 2:30 p.m.

Barden said the free egg hunt will be held on the beach between McLoone’s Pier House and Ocean Avenue. Registration will be required on site to participate.

Barden said the egg hunt age groups for the event are: 1:30 p.m., ages 3 and under; 1:45 p.m., ages 4-6; 2 p.m., ages 7-9; 2:15 p.m., ages 10 an up.

Nicole Kushner Meyer, who is principal at Kushner, said that the event was a great way for people to come together to celebrate the spring season.

“We are excited to welcome everyone to our annual Easter at the Pier event. This is a great opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate the spring season and enjoy the warmer weather. We will have activities for the entire family, including Easter egg hunts, a bounce house, face painting, live performances and an appearance from the Easter Bunny,” Meyer said.
