Students in the carpentry and welding programs at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School completed Santa’s sleigh for Manville’s Fire Department to transport Santa around during the holiday season.
The project, initiated by the Manville Fire Department, was taken on by SCVTHS carpentry instructor George Lee and welding instructor Don Smith. The carpentry students crafted a sleigh fit for Santa and the welding students affixed the wheels and towing capabilities.
“In the real world, you never know what a client wants to get done. It is a great learning experience for the students,” Mr. Lee explained. “These unusual projects add to the students’ depth of knowledge.”
