Hopewell Township Police and six fire departments responded today, Thursday, to a pre-dawn house fire on Applewood Drive.
Patrol units arrived at 4:23 a.m. to find a fire in the cathedral ceiling area of a second-floor bedroom. The Hopewell Fire Department, under the command of Chief Joseph Novak, arrived and quickly extinguished the fire. The five residents were out of the residence by the police arrived.
There were no reported injuries.
Police said the fire does not seem suspicious in nature and is believed to have originated in the area of a ceiling fan mounted to the cathedral ceiling.
Fire companies from Pennington, Union Fire Company (Lambertville), Lawrenceville, Montgomery Company No. 2 and Rocky Hill responded, as did Hopewell Valley Emergency Services.
Police said the fire remains under investigation by the Hopewell Township Police, Hopewell Valley Emergency Services and the Mercer County Fire Marshal’s Office.
