East Brunswick police on lookout for suspicious van

EAST BRUNSWICK– Police are on the lookout for the driver of a burgundy work van who was seen trying to talk to a 13-year-old girl who on her way to a bus stop on Jan. 26, according to the police department.

The incident occurred on Arthur Street at approximately 8:53 a.m., when the suspect, described as a white or Hispanic male in his 40’s with a short stubble beard, pulled his van alongside the girl and opened the passenger side door, according to the police.

According to police, the man was trying to entice to the girl to come closer.

The girl ran home to her mother, who then called the police.

The South River Police Department stopped a van matching the description, but turned out not be the suspect.

Police ask parents to advise their children to be careful when approached by a stranger
