Milltown third grader leads fundraiser for juvenile diabetes

MILLTOWN – A third grade student at Parkview School who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 2 years old decided he wanted to help others in his situation.

With the support of Parkview Principal Janet Ferlazzo and school nurse Ellen Pagliuco, Brendan Harmon conducted a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He shared his personal experiences in a letter he read during morning announcements, which was also sent home with each Parkview students.

Together, $5,350 was raised for the cause throughout the Milltown community.

“Brendan is simply amazing and is a role model for all of us,” Ferlazzo said.
