Manalapan High School teammates Daniel Gaul an Daniel Natoli are teammates again on the New Jersey City University (NJCU) men’s golf team. Both are freshmen.
Gaul and Natoli made their NJCU debuts at the St. Lawrence Invitational at the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course in Canton, New York. They helped the Gothic Knights set new school records for a 18-hole team score on a par-72 course, 331, and 36-hole team score on a par-72, 688.
Gaul finished second among the NJCU golfers with a two-day score of 90-82-172. Natoli was the Knights’ No. 3 scorer with a 36-hole score of 91-83-174.
Howell’s Amanda Ferraro is one of the top runners on the Kutztown University’s women’s cross-country team. The sophomore had a strong freshman campaign for the Golden Bears, finishing 39th at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships and 40th at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in 2015.
Ferraro runs the 5K and 10K for the Kutztown indoor and outdoor track and field teams. She was a PSAC Championship qualifier.
A colt bred by Millstream Farm and Michael Taranto needs a name.
The seventh episode of “Fika with Jonas,” which currently airs on YouTube, introduces the son of Muscle Hill – Mistery Woman and takes viewers to Millstream Farm in Allentown and Southwind Farm in Pennington to meet Muscle Hill and stallion manager Charlie Williams.
“We need a name for Mistery Woman’s first foal,” Jonas Czernyson, who trained the $480,360 earner, said in a prepared statement.
The multiple-stakes-winning Mistery Woman raced from 2012 to 2015, posting 11 wins, two seconds and 10 thirds in 39 starts and trotted to her 1:51 world record for 4-year-olds in the Allerage at Kentucky’s Red Mile. She was mated to 2009 Horse of the Year and Hambletonian winner Muscle Hill.
“In addition to our racing operation, we have two breeding farms,” Czernyson said. “My mother-in-law, Claudean Cone, oversees Millstream Farm in Georgetown, Kentucky, and my wife, Christine, manages the 76-acre Millstream Farm here in Allentown.”
The Czernysons and Mistery Woman’s co-owner, Taranto, will select a winning name, inviting submissions to the comments option on YouTube, or the Facebook and Twitter pages for Team JC.
The deadline is Sept. 22, and the winner will be announced on the October episode of “Fika with Jonas.” Prizes will be awarded, too.
Fika is the Swedish word for a coffee break, and Swedish-born trainer Jonas Czernyson, who is stabled at Winners Training Center in Chesterfield, is the star of the monthly series produced by Cody Bach Productions.

The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County welcomes sports attorney Keith Glass, who will present a talk — The Past, Present, and Future of Professional Sports — Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $8 for members and $10 for non-members.
Keith Glass is CEO/Chairman of Glass Global Sports Group. A member of the California Bar Association since 1979, Glass has been representing professional athletes for around 30 years. He has successfully completed contracts for over 100 NBA players and an additional 120 players throughout Europe and Asia.
His book, “Taking Shots,” published by Harper Collins Publishers in 2007, was nominated in 2007 for the James Thurber Award for American Humor. The book was later published in paperback and remains in print today.
In 1979, Hall of Famer Larry Brown from UCLA hired Glass as an assistant coach. In Glass’ first year at UCLA, the Bruins went to the Final Four but lost in the National Championship Game.
Glass was subsequently hired as head coach at three high schools and compiled a record of 268 wins and 93 losses. He has been named coach of the year seven times in two different states.
