COLTS NECK – Republicans Edward Eastman and Russell Macnow are running unopposed in the Nov. 8 election to retain their seats on the Township Committee.

Republicans have a 5-0 majority on the governing body and for years the GOP officials have adhered to a self-imposed three-term (nine years) limit.

Macnow is seeking his third three-year term, which will run from Jan. 1, 2017 to Dec. 31, 2019.

“The biggest challenges I will embrace as a committeeman over the next three years are minimizing the impact of the township’s affordable housing requirement and preventing Naval Weapons Station Earle from permitting civilian housing on the base,” Macnow said.

Eastman is running for a one-year term that will run from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2017. He was appointed to an open seat on the governing body earlier this year. Eastman previously served on the governing body from 2009-11. He has not been immediately available to comment on his current run for office.
