JACKSON – A Jackson man has been charged with burglary and theft in connection with an incident at a home on Brewers Bridge Road.

At 4:40 a.m. Feb. 26, officers Michael Basso and Javier De La Torre responded to a residence on Brewers Bridge Road to investigate a report of a burglary, according to police.

When the officers arrived, the residents told them they believed a man they did not know had attempted to enter their house through an unlocked rear door.

Police said the home is equipped with a video surveillance system. The officers viewed footage from the system and observed a man at the rear door.

Police said the residents initially believed their barking dog may have scared away the suspect. Upon further investigation, however, it was discovered that a female resident’s wallet had been stolen from her purse which was on a counter in a room near the rear door.

A search of the neighborhood was conducted, but the suspect was not located.

About two-and-a-half hours later, at 7:05 a.m., Officer Cherrick Daniels was on patrol in the Anillop Plaza on Brewers Bridge Road when he observed a man who matched the description of the suspect in the earlier incident, according to police.

Basso responded to the shopping plaza and identified the man as the suspect he saw in the home’s surveillance video. At that time, the man, who was identified as Antunee Adams, 21, of Jackson, was charged with burglary and theft. He was processed and released on a summons pending a court appearance, according to police.
