The American Littoral Society, Langosta Lounge and Split Second Racing will partner for the second annual Lobster Run, beginning at 9 a.m. April 15 in Asbury Park.

The run/walk will start and finish on the Asbury Park boardwalk outside Langosta Lounge, followed by an optional after-party at the restaurant. Participants can sign up for food, the run or a combination of both.

New this year will be a time-trial format that will eliminate starting line congestion. A chip-timing system will allow participants to start at any point from 9-10 a.m.

Overall winners and top age group finishers will be determined once the last participant crosses the finish line. A real-time electronic leader board will allow everyone to keep an eye on finish times while at the restaurant.

The event will be held rain or shine and include live race results and awards for the top three male and female finishers, age-group winners.

This year the runner with the best lobster look will also win a one-year family membership to the American Littoral Society.

Online registration is available at Raceforum.com/LobsterRegister by April 7 for a discounted entry fee and guaranteed race T-shirt. Early packet pickup will be held from 4-7 p.m. April 14 at Road Runner Sports, 490 Broad St., Suite 1, Shrewsbury. On-site registration and packet pickup begins at 8 a.m. on race day.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Littoral Society, a 501(c)3 charity based in Sandy Hook that has been protecting and restoring the coast since 1961.
