Dems take council seats in Metuchen

METUCHEN — The Democratic candidates overwhelmingly beat their Republican challengers for the two seats on the Borough Council that were available in the election on Nov. 8.

Incumbent Dorothy Rasmussen garnered the most votes with 4,372 and her running mate, Linda Koskoski, who will be serving her first term, received 4,187 votes.

The Republican challengers Daniel Lebar and Joseph Furmato III received 2,418 votes and 2,343 votes, respectively, in their losing bids for their first terms on council.
